CABLEGNOSIS at IEEE CEIDP 2025 – Advancing Power Cable Ageing Research

CABLEGNOSIS participated in the 100th IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (CEIDP), held from September 14 – 17, 2025, in Manchester, United Kingdom. The CEIDP conference is a leading international forum, established since 1920, that brings together participants from industry and academia to discuss challenges and advances in around “Insulation and Dielectrics”.

As part of the project’s dissemination activities, Mr. Mohsen Abdolahi, PhD student at the “Propulsion, Electrification and Superconductivity” group, Jamse Watt school of engineering, University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, presented the poster “ML-Assisted Ageing Classification of XLPE Power Cables using an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System”, on behalf of Glasgow team including Dr Wenjuan Song, and Dr Mohammad Yazdani-Asrami. The poster focuses on condition monitoring of power cables using inference-based artificial intelligence model for interpretability purposes. The study highlights how experts can benefit the use of fuzzy inference logic along with neural network, and provides insights that support more reliable asset management for power cables, fully aligned with the objectives of the CABLEGNOSIS project.

The project’s participation in IEEE CEIDP 2025 offered an excellent opportunity to share findings, engage with the international insulation and dielectric community, and demonstrate innovative solutions for power cable systems.
